29 Jun Governor Laura Kelly Issues Statewide Mask Mandate
Due to increasing COVID-19 cases, Governor Laura Kelly issued a statewide mask mandate at her press conference this afternoon in Topeka.
“Beginning 12:01 a.m., July 3, 2020 every Kansan in a public space must wear a mask,” Kelly said. “This doesn’t change where you can go or what you can do, but if you are around other people, you must wear a mask.”
“… Wearing a mask is not only safe, it is necessary to avoid another shutdown,” Kelly said.
Kelly stated the official executive order, complete with guidance and details, will be released on Thursday, July 2. Renew Kansas will provide more information at its release.
Prior to Kelly’s mandate, Renew Kansas learned Wyandotte and Douglas County will implement similar mask ordinances on Tuesday and Wednesday.
